There is a great deal of what may perhaps not be inaptly termed "Brute force" in the arguments which Sir R. MacDonnell has advanced in his Memorial in reply to that of The Duke of Buckingham and Chandos.
The Duke of Buckingham will probably not feel at present in a position to express any opinion on this correspondence because...

This is a memorial left by the Mayor, clergy, and missionary against the action taken by the Governor in respect of licensing gambling houses.
We do not get to know officially how many licenses the Governor has allowed to be taken out, or what the license fees amount to in the aggregate.
